This week at the Chadderton we celebrated World Book Day 2022. Our theme this year was Paddington Bear. The children throughout the school joined in a range of activities that covered maths, geography, art, science and of course reading!.
The junior children started the day with the story ‘A Bear Called Paddington’ they re-enacted scenes in a freeze-frame for our class to work out. We used atlases to find Peru, Lima and London (Portabello Road, then used street view on google maps to visit the locations. Later we created our own ideas for accidents that Paddington could have had in the story. We ended the day by making and trying our own marmalade sandwiches for a picnic whilst watching part of the Paddington film that we had read in the morning.
The infant children then went on a scavenger hunt looking for clues around the school to find famous London landmarks, which finished in the library where we read Paddington, made their own marmalade sandwiches and talked about their favourite parts of the story.
Thank you to all the teachers and parents for making the day such a success!
