At the Chadderton Preparatory Grammar we are blessed to have a fabulous outdoor space for the whole school to use. This week our youngest children have been enjoying the outdoor space during their outdoor learning session. The children explored our school garden to find autumn leaves of different colours and even picked some apples!
You may think the outdoor learning is just a ‘play time’ but for our children it is so much more.
Outdoor play is of utmost importance in the early years of a child's development. It offers a wide range of physical, mental, and social benefits that contribute significantly to a child's growth and well-being.
Outdoor play encourages a healthy life style and exposes the children to vitamin D which is essential for bone health.
Whilst playing the children are exposed to a range of stimuli which helps to support sensory development. It developed fine and gross motor skills and encourages the children to problem solve and encourages curiosity.
As we all know a strong mental health is vital for a child’s success, the outdoor learning sessions at The Chadderton develop our children’s emotional wellbeing. It helps to reduce stress, provides a calm and soothing environment and helps to boost self-esteem and confidence!
In summary the Outdoor learning sessions at The Chadderton helps our children become well-rounded individuals with a broad range of skills and competencies.
